Moving cattle is done throughout the year.  The most active time for guests to be included on cattle drives is in the spring and fall.
Starting the middle of May through the first of June, our grass fed Black Angus cows and calves are trailed from winter range in the
badlands to the Mahogany Butte Ranch for branding, then on to summer range in the Big Horn Mountains.  A journey of
approximately 60 miles.

Fall roundup starts the first of September and may last through October.  The cows and calves are sorted and calves vaccinated
in preparation for 'shipping' or selling of the calves.  After shipping,  the cows are pregnancy tested, vaccinated and sorted again.
They remain on the mountain range until the snows of December, when the trail back to the badlands begins again, to continue
the cycle that the Hampton family has lived for over 50 years!

Since the Mahogany Butte Ranch is a working cattle, sheep and horse ranch, you can ride with us in the capacity you desire as
long as you have the qualifications, along with the timing of ranch work schedules, weather and any unforeseen events that my
inhibit the work environment.  Our guest rides operate under the name, "Blazing Saddles, LLC" managed by Janna Hampton.  We
do want to make clear, that this is not a 'guest' ranch.  It is our home and way of life.  If you would like to experience that for a day
or so, we'll be happy to include you.   Our work comes first and scheduling your ride, be it a scenic trail ride or a cattle drive, will be
secondary.  We do enjoy sharing our fantastic scenery, horses and lifestyle and want guests to know that we will explore all
possibilities and carry through to ensure your quality experience.  See the "
Ride With Us" page.  FORMS
